Labor Day Weekend Part I (8-29-03)
A bit of tradition was exercised this past Labor Day weekend -
the trip to Ed's Cabin. It is a scant two hour trip to AuTrain and
after that, nothing really matters. Although, this time it took a
staggering five hours since we stopped at a couple of different places
along the way (to get beer).
Ed's dad just added on a huge "garage". Although it's
not quite finished yet, it is still really nice. |
 |

 |
With the sleeping arrangements taken care of, it was time to examine the
beer situation. Looks like we're ok for now (plus another not
pictured 24 pack). |

We didn't do a whole lot on the first night other then sit in the hot tub
but that was enough for the first day. In the morning, I took a
few more shots around the outside of the cabin. Its a pretty sweet
place. |

And a few more shots of the inside of the other part.

 |
Ok, play time is over, its time to do what we came here to do:
canoe. But first things first, we need to secure some refreshments
for the trip. Baker and I opted to have an independent cooler for
us in order to . . . uhhhh . . . optimize things a bit better. 22
Bud Lights. Mmmmmm beeeeer.
 |
Once we got the three canoes down to the lake, we put in. Here's
Mike and Elaine working their way down the rocky shore to get to the
water. That was rather difficult to do without dumping stuff out
of the canoe.
 |
And we're off. The plan was to canoe across the lake and head into
the AuTrain River on the other side. It was much more pleasant
then last time we went when the waves nearly capsized us.
